      DIMSEN super-precision cylindrical roller bearings are characterized by:

      These bearings are therefore particularly well suited for machine tool spindles where the bearing arrangement must accommodate heavy radial loads and high speeds, while providing a high degree of stiffness.

      DIMSEN super-precision single row cylindrical roller bearings have a higher speed capability than double row bearings while double row bearings are more suitable for heavier loads.

      NU
      These bearings carry radial load only and can accommodate both expansion and contraction. The relative axial displacement of one ring to the other occurs with minimum friction while the bearing is rotating. Type RIU and RU bearings may be used in one or two positions for shaft support if other means of axial location are provided. The outer ring has two integral ribs while the inner ring has a cylindrical outer diameter without ribs.

      Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
      Design Attributes

          Design has a cylindrical inner ring and two ribs on the outer ring, making type NU bearings well suited for use as floating bearings.
          Separable components simplify mounting and removal.
          Accommodates axial expansion and contraction.
          Provides axial displacement between rings with minimum friction while rotating.

      NJ
      Cylindrical bearing type NJ has double-ribbed outer and single-ribbed inner rings and can support heavy radial loads, as well as light unidirectional thrust loads up to 10 percent of the radial load. The thrust load is transmitted between the diagonally opposed rib faces in a sliding rather than a rolling motion.

      Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
      Design Attributes

          Design features outer ring with two integral ribs and an inner ring with a single rib.
          Supports heavy radial and light unidirectional thrust load up to 10 percent of radial load.
          Angle ring can be used to turn a floating bearing into a fixed one.

      Double Row

      Two-row, or double-row, cylindrical bearings are designed for additional strength in carrying radial loads. These bearing types are interchangeable so the dimensions and diameter under the rollers (NNU style) and diameter over the rollers (NN style) are held to an ISO/DIN standard. Interchangeability is designed for the ring without the rollers to allow interchange with competitor inner rings.

      Size range: 80 mm to 2000 mm OD
      Design Attributes

          Designed to ISO/DIN specified interchangeable dimensions where available.
          Sold as complete assembly.
          Available in same size range as single row product.
          Current designs use NN, NNU nomenclature.

      Multiple Row

      Four-row cylindrical bearings are almost exclusive to metals industry and carry heavy radial loads in steel, aluminum and other metal rolling mills.

      Size Range: 145 mm to 1040 mm Bore.
      Design Attributes

          Design offers very high radial load capacity. No thrust capacity.
          Straight and tapered bores available.
          Inner races are interchangeable with outer assemblies.

      Timken now offers a broader range of full complement cylindrical roller bearings to meet the need for increased radial load carrying capacity by maximizing the number of rollers in a given envelope.  The expanded offering includes multiple series of one-row and two-row designs starting at 100 mm bore.

      The SILENCE DIMSEN?  bearing is designed specifically for continuous casters, where performance and reliability are critical to maintaining operations. The DIMSEN bearing evolves traditional cylindrical and spherical roller bearing configurations into a new design so operators benefit from the key attributes of both types.

      The bearing consists of an inner ring, outer ring and roller /retainer assembly. The retainer holds the rollers in position, creating a single assembly that prevents the rollers from being damaged during mounting and dismounting.

      The separable components simplify installation, removal and inspection. The inner ring and outer ring can be installed in either direction, helping to avoid common mounting errors. No special tooling is required.

      Introductory size range: 100 mm to 170 mm bore (3.94 in. to 6.69 in.)
